The role
A delivered system only creates lasting value if the client team that inherits it can run it and change it. You will own the operational adoption of Wilkes & Liberty's engineering work — not documentation as an artifact, but proof that the receiving team can complete the procedure without oral context.
What you will own
- Runbooks, architecture notes, and operational documentation for systems in delivery or handoff, validated against the real operator workflow, not just written and filed.
- Information architecture for documentation sets, so client teams can find what they need without tribal knowledge.
- Docs-as-code and versioning alongside the system where practical, so documentation does not drift from what is actually deployed.
- Client-facing enablement material, including onboarding guides and training content, for handoff, with gaps tracked until the audience can complete the procedure independently.
- Concrete collaboration with the Compliance / GRC Specialist on control narratives, procedures, and evidence packaging. Control ownership stays with Compliance / GRC; this role documents and packages rather than owning the control.
- Direct support for forward-deployed engagements when embedded with a client team.
- Editorial support for client-facing capability content, kept secondary to engagement documentation so the role does not collapse into content marketing.
What you bring
- Technical writing experience for software or infrastructure systems.
- Ability to work directly with engineers to translate technical decisions into documentation a client team can act on.
- Comfort moving between multiple concurrent engagements.
Helpful experience
- Documenting Drupal, Next.js, or comparable web platform systems.
- Docs-as-code tooling and versioned documentation workflows.
- Producing evidence-adjacent documentation, including control narratives and procedure packages, alongside a compliance function.
