The role
Wilkes & Liberty needs a delivery lead who is technical enough to make architecture and sequencing decisions and accountable enough to carry them through handoff. You will lead the engineering work on the assigned engagement, coordinate specialists without flattening their expertise, and make sure the client receives a system it can operate.
Wilkes & Liberty is a forward-deployed engineering company serving commercial and mission-oriented organizations. Federal and regulated work is a priority channel, not the whole company. This title means leadership and accountability for the engineering work — not a promise of direct reports.
What you will own
- Set and maintain the technical delivery plan for the assigned engagement: scope of engineering work, sequencing, dependencies, and definition of done.
- Coordinate the engineering team and supporting specialists against that plan without replacing their craft.
- Make and defend architecture and sequencing decisions under real client constraints; keep those decisions written down.
- Run technical status with the engagement lead and client technical stakeholders.
- Enforce review, testing, and release discipline appropriate to the engagement's risk.
- Own last-mile delivery quality so the client's operators can run the system after handoff.
- Serve as forward-deployed engineering (FDE) Lead when the engagement requires embedded technical leadership from discovery through implementation and handoff.
What you bring
- You have led technical delivery on multi-person software or platform engagements end to end.
- You can make architecture and sequencing decisions under incomplete information and client constraints, and you stand behind them through handoff.
- You coordinate specialists without turning their work into a status report or absorbing their craft.
- You write and speak clearly with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- You care that the client inherits an operable system, not just a demo.
Helpful experience
- Drupal, Next.js, or comparable CMS/web platform delivery stacks.
- Federal, SLED, or regulated delivery, including task orders, subcontract environments, and acceptance gates.
- Prior forward-deployed or client-embedded engineering leadership.
- Release discipline, technical risk escalation, and operator-ready documentation.
Equal opportunity and accommodations. Wilkes & Liberty considers qualified candidates without regard to protected characteristics. Reasonable accommodations are available during the application process.
